First of all, I apologise for the Instagram snaps, I normally don't really like to use Instagram photos in a post, but since I actually dyed my hair it's faded a little bit and also the light outside isn't great for photographing the colour. So these will have to do.
After I posted my Hair Woes post the other day, a lot of you were quite vocal about me just taking the plunge and trying out a pastel colour on my hair! It was probably the most sensible option as it will wash out quite quickly if I don't like it and it would be easier to rectify if I wanted to go back to blonde, whereas dying it brown would take a lot longer.
I bought this little bottle of Lavender Crazy Colour from eBay and thought I'd give it a go. I've heard a lot about how good Crazy Colour is but I was a bit doubtful if it would work on my hair as my hair has never taken well to hair dye that is anything less than permanent. Another thing that made me doubtful was that most people who use these colours have bleached their hair beforehand and I was just going to put it straight onto my 'light-but-probably-not-light-enough' hair.
I had to do this 3 times. The first time, I took advice from a youtube video and mixed it with conditioner so that it would be a little lighter and that I would have more dye left to do it again. I left it for 30 minutes, washed it off and... nothing had happened. Ah. So I tried it again, this time following the directions on the bottle: Wash your hair with shampoo (no conditioner), towel dry and apply the dye. I left this for 40 minutes, washed it off and it had only dyed about 2 strips of my hair.
For the third attempt, I put it straight onto dry hair and left it for about an hour and 15 minutes. Finally there was colour in my hair! There are still patches that haven't taken to it particularly well, and others bits that have gone practically violet instead of lavender. But it will do.
I'm unsure about whether or not I like it. I think if it had worked properly and not gone patchy I'd like it a lot more. I also think that maybe purple just isn't my colour. I think pink will be my next experiment once this washes out completely. I might also try and lighten my hair a little bit next time to see if it makes a difference. Have any of you had the same problems as me?
Happy Valentines Day to you all by the way! I'm not a fan of the day at all if I'm honest - too cheesy and corporate for my liking. I don't think you should have a designated day to show your love for one another, and I'd like to think I manage to show Tom I love him a few more times in the year. So what have me and Tom done this Valentines Day? We went for a run. Living the dream.

looks lovely! :)
